The project was approved by the former Quang Tri Provincial People’s Committee under Decision No. 104/QD-UBND dated May 19, 2023, and by the former Quang Binh Provincial People’s Committee under Decision No. 2821/QD-UBND dated October 6, 2023. As of July 1, 2025, the former provinces of Quang Tri and Quang Binh were merged into Quang Tri Province. Funded by KOICA through Medipeace, the project was implemented during the 2023–2025 period.

The project was implemented at 16 specialized schools and education centers in Quang Tri Province and Da Nang City. In Quang Tri, activities were carried out at four institutions: Le Thuy Center for Education of Children with Disabilities, Quang Trach Center for Education of Children with Disabilities, Dong Hoi Center for the Care and Education of Children with Disabilities, and the Quang Tri Provincial Special Education School.

The project aimed to build and strengthen institutional and professional capacity to improve the quality of education tailored to students with disabilities, while enhancing community-based educational environments, thereby contributing to equitable and inclusive access to education for children with disabilities.

After three years of implementation, relevant agencies and units closely coordinated to deliver all project components in line with the established objectives and timeline. The project organized multiple training and capacity-building courses in special education for 176 teachers; provided individualized educational support to 734 students with disabilities; and supplied schools and centers with a wide range of teaching and learning equipment and materials.

Through practical and targeted interventions, the project not only contributed to creating a more positive, inclusive, and child-friendly learning environment, but also strengthened teachers’ professional competencies, enhanced students’ skills, and promoted meaningful changes in parental and societal perceptions regarding the right of children with disabilities to equal educational opportunities.

The final review conference provided an opportunity for stakeholders to conduct a comprehensive assessment of project outcomes after three years of implementation; share endline evaluation findings; analyze project impacts; and highlight the tangible improvements and positive changes achieved. The event also recognized and commended organizations, collectives, and individuals for their active contributions to project implementation, while serving as a platform to discuss sustainability orientations, propose intersectoral cooperation mechanisms, mobilize resources, and integrate the project outcomes into future development plans of the local education sector.
