Preparatory Conference of 9 provinces 3 countries using Road No. 8 and Road No.12 successfully held

On the date of 27-28 March 2015, the Preparatory Conference for the Summit of 9 provinces 3 countries using Road No. 8, Road No. 12 was held in Sakon Nakhon, the Kingdom of Thailand, chaired by Mr. Phandet Srichan - Vice Governor of Sakon Nakhon province.

 

The Conference was attended by representatives leaders and delegations from 9 provinces of 3 countries, including: Quang Binh, Ha Tinh, Nghe An (Vietnam), Bolykhamxai, Khammouane (Laos), Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Nong Khai, Bung Kan (Thailand). Quang Binh delegation was led by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quy - Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Quang Binh province.

 

The Preparatory Conference focused on discussion and evaluation on the implementation outcomes of the 18th Summit held in Nakhon Phamom on trade, culture, sports, tourism, education and transports. Besides, it figured out common limitations of the Association of 9 provinces 3 countries of Thailand – Laos – Vietnam using Road No. 8 and Road No. 12 (AOPTC) and specific limitations of each member province in order to find out effective solutions to the problems, aiming towards the comprehensive and sustainable cooperation among provinces.


On behalf of Quang Binh delegation including representatives from Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Transports, Provincial Public Security, Department of Customs, Quang Binh University, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quy – Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Department – delegation leader briefed on the cooperation situation between Quang Binh and provinces in the Association and the implementation of the MoU of the 18th Summit in 2014. He also declared that Quang Binh will host the 20th Preparatory Conference in 2016.

 

The Conference agreed to propose a number of contents to the 19th Summit in the coming time as follows: continue cooperating in fields of education and human resource training based on each province’s potential and strengths; cooperate in farm produce quality control; organize subcommittee for trade and industry cooperation; continue cooperating in transports to serve the demand for travel among 9 provinces of 3 countries; take priority to allocate funding to complete the construction of cultural house of the 3 countries in Kham-cot district, Bolikhamxai province, Laos PDR, and other significant contents.

 

Within the framework of this Conference, Sakon Nakhon province organized ASEAN OTOP Paradise Traditional Exhibition in 3 days with the participation of various booths from countries in the Association, which displayed and sold traditional products of the provinces and of the region, especially agricultural products, handicrafts, high-quality commodities, etc. In addition, the host province also organized a visit for all delegates to Royal Center for Farm Produce Research in Northeastern Thailand, which is in charge of researching and applying seedlings and animal breeds appropriate with climate and soil condition of the Northeast region of Thailand, to directly consult and support the regional residents to raise income and develop economic condition. A large number of agricultural products of high commercial value such as freshwater fish, livestock, poultry, industrial crop, home plant, etc. of many kinds were displayed for introduction. Among those, especially, 3 typical products of black chicken, black pork, and black beef are favored by international markets and bring high profit.
