Receive funding from Development Workshop France Organization

On December 15, 2014, the Provincial People's Committee authorized the Department of Construction to cooperate with the Development Workshop France (DWF) on implementing the Project of Integrating the Disaster Risks Mitigation into the Safer Construction Environment in Vietnam.

 

The project is funded by The European Commission's Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection Department (ECHO) through DWF to 14 provinces of Vietnam, including Quang Binh, with the funding of about €354,900. It aims to support on effectively implementing the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 48/QĐ-TTg dated August 28, 2014 on the policy of support for poor households in construction of typhoon-and-flood-prevention houses. Accordingly, the Department of Construction and DWF will jointly conduct survey and assessment on the actual situation of houses in typhoon and flood areas; design the model typhoon-flood-prevention house according to the Decision No. 48/QĐ-TTg; demonstrate the design and construction of 2 models of safe houses in typhoon and flood areas of the province; prepare and edit promotional documents that raise the awareness of community to popularize for communal officials and households; run training courses for communal officials and construction workers; organize exchange and study visits.

DWF is a French NGO, operating in the field of construction on schools; heath stations, environment, water supply, rural development and emergency aid. In the recent years, DWF has conducted many positive activities in improving the resistance of residential houses before and after natural disasters happening in Quang Binh province. In 2014, DWF collaborated with the Department of Construction to implement the Project on Reconstructing the Localities Affected by Wutip and Nari Typhoon, thereby, repaired and reinforced 543 houses and rebuilt 17 houses for families whose houses were damaged by Wutip and Nari Typhoon, with the total funding of over 3.2 billion VND.
