Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee courteously meets World Bank’s Global Director for Transports and IT
On the morning of November 10, 2015, the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai courteously met a mission from World Bank (WB) led by Mr. Jose Louis - Global Director for Transports and IT within their site visit to implement the project on local road management in some provinces of Vietnam. The courtesy reception was attended by representatives from the Office of Provincial People’s Committee, Department of Transports, Department of Foreign Affairs, Project Management Board for Rural Transports.
At the courtesy meet, the Chairman briefed on transport condition in Quang Binh province to the mission. Accordingly, the transport condition in the province, especially in rural areas, is in disadvantages and the transport system is insufficient compared to the need. Furthermore, since Quang Binh has a rather abundant system of streams and rivers, high annual rainfall and is frequently affected by natural disasters, the building and maintenance of the transport system is of necessity and regarded as one of the key task of the province in the coming time.
The Chairman was delighted that Quang Binh is among the provinces that are taken into accounted to implement the Project on local roads management sponsored by WB’s loan; committed that if selected to join the project, the province would make an effective use of the loan, ensure the quality of works; and, called for further support from the WB by paying more attention and monitoring to well implement the Project.

On behalf of the WB’s mission, Mr. Jose Louis said the mission had visited a number of transport routes in Quang Binh and gave several recommendations on the building of the transport network in the province in near future. He especially emphasized that more attention should be paid to the impacts of natural disasters and climate change to build an adaptive and appropriate transport system.

On behalf of the provincial leadership, the Chairman thanked Mr. Jose Louis and his mission for their visit to Quang Binh, hoping that the province will continue to get more support from the WB. The Chairman also, on this occasion, invite Mr. Louis and the mission to take time to visit Quang Binh’s landscapes, particularly the caves system in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park./.
