US Ambassador Ted Osius visits Quang Binh province

On his biking journey named “The new journey” from Hanoi to Hue, the US Ambassador Ted Osius paid a visit to Phong Nha cave and Quang Binh University on 28-29 January 2016.

“The new journey” took place from 24 - 31 January 2016, through 08 provinces and cities in Vietnam on which Ambassador Ted Osius was accompanied by staff of the US Embassy in Vietnam and former members of US-aided programs.

 

In the afternoon of 28 January 2016, at Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park World Heritage Site, the Ambassador was led by Mr. Hoang Hai Van - Deputy Director of Management Board of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park and Mr. Nguyen Ngọc Quy - Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Department to visit Phong Nha Cave - one of the most beautiful and unique caves in Phong Nha - Ke Bang cave system.

In the morning of 29 January 2016, Ambassador Ted Osius and his partners visited Quang Binh University and gave talk to the staff, teachers and students. The talk was also attended by the Provincial People’s Committee’s Vice Chairman Tran Tien Dzung.

The Ambassador in his talk affirmed that educational exchange programs play an important part in Vietnam – US partnership that has become a destination for the youth to meet, exchange and contribute to a more powerful world.

He also took his time to answer questions given by the students regarding English Language Fellowships and other scholarships granted to Vietnamese students by the US Government.

On this occasion, Ambassador Ted Osius informed that he and a team of 8 ambassadors in Vietnam will return to Quang Binh in May 2016 to explore Son Doong Cave - the World’s largest cave in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.

After the talk at Quang Binh University, Ambassador Ted Osius headed to Quang Tri, the next destination on his biking trip.
