Awarding President’s Third-class Labour Medal to Mr. Howard Limbert and Mr. Ho Khanh

On the morning of May 28, 2015, a ceremony was held in a solemn atmosphere to award Thir-class Labour Medals of the President of Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Mr. Howard Limbert and Mr. Ho Khanh.

 

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Huu Hoai – Vice Secretary of the Provincial Party, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of Provincial Emulation and Commendation Board and representative leaders from Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Department of Foreign Affairs; Provincial People’s Committee Office; Management Board of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park; Provincial Board of Emulation and Commendation.

 

At the ceremony, Third-class Labour Medals were awarded to Mr. Howard Limbert and Mr. Ho Khanh by Chairman Nguyen Huu Hoai as authorized by the President of Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Mr. Howard Limbert, a British Royal cave expert, was awarded for his “excellent achievements in exploration, research and survey on Phong Nha – Ke Bang cave system, contributing to promoting the image of Quang Binh tourism”.

 

Mr. Ho Khanh, who is 47 years old, living in Son Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province, was awarded for his “contribution to helping expeditions to explore many caves, especially Song Doong cave, contributing to the socio-economic development of Quang Binh province”.

 

Addressing at the ceremony, Chairman Nguyen Huu Hoai acknowledged and appreciated great attempts and contributions that Mr. Howard Limbert and Mr. Ho Khanh have made in discovering caves in Phong Nha – Ke Bang area, especially Son Doong cave.

 

Mr. Howard Limbert was acknowledged by the Chairman of Quang Binh Provincial People’s Committee for his enthusiasm during 25 years putting all his efforts, money, and intelligence to research and explore caves in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park. He is also the one who helps to introduce the image of Quang Binh tourism to international friends and counsel the provincial leadership in conserving and promoting the value of the World’s Natural Heritage. Thanks to this, the number of tourists visiting Quang Binh has increased significantly in the last 5 years. The Chairman expressed his hope that Mr. Howard would continue to do research , survey and explore more caves in the cave system of Phong Nha – Ke bang World’s Heritage.
