At the meeting, the Director of Quang Binh Department of Foreign Affairs gave a brief introduction about Quang Binh province and real cooperation situation between Quang Binh province and Western Australia in recent years to Mr. Mathew Awstun Lewis as follows: (1) the “Sister Caves” Statement of Agreement was signed between Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park Management Board and Augusta Margaret River Tourism Association; (2) the Agreement of Cooperation is being discussed to be signed between the People’s Committee of Dong Hoi City and Bunbury city; (3) Quang Binh Department of Planning and Investment was assigned to establish a partnership with the South West Development Commission, Western Australia.

The Director of Quang Binh Department of Foreign Affairs suggested that Mr. Mathew Awstun Lewis continue to promote the cooperation between organizations and localities of Quang Binh and Western Australia into essence and effectiveness; hence, to establish a comprehensive partnership between Quang Binh and Western Australia.

Mr. Mathew Awstun Lewis informed the Director of Quang Binh Department of Foreign Affairs about the results of his visit to Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, emphasizing that he really enjoys and admires the landscapes in this region, especially Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park World Heritage Site, as well as the preservation and sustainable exploitation of heritage’s values in Quang Binh.

The two parties also discussed the future visit of leaders from Western Australia, South West Development Commission of Western Australia, the city of Bunburry and Augusta Margaret River Tourism Association to Quang Binh.
