Lao Provinces Pledge VND 500 Million to Aid Quang Tri Flood Recovery
Recently, Quang Tri Province has been severely affected by storms and floods, causing significant property damage and impacting the lives and livelihoods of local residents. In response to these difficulties, the Party, Government, and people of Champasak, Salavan, and Sekong provinces of the Lao PDR have shown deep concern and solidarity by providing Quang Tri Province with a total of VND 500 million to help address the consequences of Storm No. 12 (with Champasak Province contributing VND 200 million, Salavan Province VND 200 million, and Sekong Province VND 100 million).
The support funds were delivered to Quang Tri Province through the Vietnamese Consulate General in Pakse.
This invaluable assistance is a vivid demonstration of the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. It also affirms the close and enduring ties between Quang Tri Province and the southern provinces of Laos. This moral and material support will contribute to helping Quang Tri Province stabilize people’s lives, restore production, and gradually overcome the damage caused by the storms and floods.
Currently, the Quang Tri Department of Foreign Affairs is advising the Provincial People’s Committee on the procedures to receive the support funds. It is also coordinating with relevant agencies to ensure the reception is conducted in accordance with regulations, in a proper and respectful manner, reflecting full appreciation for the goodwill shown by the Lao provinces toward Quang Tri./.
