In 2025, the province’s border system, including boundary lines, national border markers, border belt signs, border areas, and border gate zones, continued to be managed and maintained in their original state. Law enforcement and relevant forces conducted 81 unilateral patrols and 27 joint patrols to safeguard border lines and national border markers. Public awareness campaigns on protecting maritime sovereignty, preventing and combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, as well as compliance with legal regulations, were carried out through diverse channels such as loudspeaker systems, integrated conference sessions, and announcements to local fishing teams and groups. These efforts contributed to raising public awareness and strengthening coordination with authorities in maritime activities.

Comrade Hoang Nam called on provincial departments, agencies, and localities to continue strengthening close relationships with Party committees, authorities, and residents in border areas, thereby maintaining security and order while proactively combating and preventing various types of crime. For maritime areas, he emphasized supporting fishermen to operate confidently at sea and guiding the public to strictly comply with State regulations, contributing to the removal of the European Commission’s “yellow card.”

The Permanent Vice Chairman also requested that departments and agencies review and finalize coordination regulations during task implementation, and review high-level agreements to provide recommendations for adjustments that align with commitments and practical realities, ensuring effectiveness and harmony with the post-merger situation in Quang Tri province.

In addition, he assigned the standing agency to coordinate with relevant units to strengthen communications, prepare budget estimates for Steering Committee activities with attention to specialized content, develop streamlined and cost-effective annual negotiation plans, and enhance cross-border exchanges and cooperation in socio-economic development while ensuring security and order in the region.
